Internet Navigator...
A Simplified Guide to Netscape GOLD
Usually, the Internet works nicely, but how do you tell
when you are just sitting there wasting time..., and nothing is happening?
Status Area
The Status Message is your indication that the Browser
is working properly. Yes..., the Internet is getting crowded and sometimes
it just isn't working properly..., or maybe it is not fast enough!
With some experience you will even be able to tell if your Browser is
"acting right".
Worth mentioning...,
- The yellow Key to the extreme lower left hand corner..., is Netscape's
"doorkey on blue"..., for secure documents, and a "broken
doorkey" on gray..., for insecure documents. This will be discussed
in detail later. Reference: Appendix Security Preferences.
- The Blue envelope in the right hand corner is you E-mail. If you see
a yellow [!] You have
Mail! If you "click on" the envelope Icon your Netscape Mail
Browser will appear! Reference: Chapter 6, Using E-mail for
more specific details.
- Notice the diagonal stripes in the lower right hand corner..., this
symbol tells you that the Browser can be adjusted by touching it with a
mouse pointer (hold down the left mouse button) and drag the Browser window
to the desired size! Try it! (Remember the upper right hand corner has
the Minus, Box, "X" Icons). If there are two "boxes"...
"click on" that Icon..., then theBrowser will allow you to adjust
it. Practice this..., if your new to Windows 95.
Did You Know..., the
Status Message changes when you put the pointer over a "URL:
Link"
All "Hyperlinks" will appear in the Status
Message Area if your "pointing device" (usually a mouse)
touches the link.
At the bottom of this page are several URL Links...,
notice when you put the curser over "Next Page" (bottom) the
Status Message shows the filename of the Next Page...,
(to which this page is "Linked"!) [Filename:
N_Browser_Appearance.htm]
All WebPages are "linked" in this very
same way!
