Megan Elwood Madden earned her PhD in geoscience from Virginia Tech following a BA in geology from UIUC. She is currently the director of the Center for Faculty Excellence and holds the Robert & Doris Klabzuba Chair in the School of Geosciences, where she works with students and collaborators to study the chemistry of rocks and fluids on Earth, Mars, and other bodies in our Solar System. Dr. Elwood Madden teaches courses in geochemistry, planetary science, science communication, and gender and identity within STEM as a core affiliate faculty member in Women’s and Gender Studies. Since joining OU in 2007, Megan has benefitted from and contributed to many professional development opportunities, including faculty learning communities focused on inclusive teaching, guidance and support leading multidisciplinary proposal development, and peer-mentoring. She looks forward to working with faculty across campus as they build connections and create integrated research, creative activity, pedagogy, and service portfolios that amplify their scholarship.
