The Center for Faculty Excellence provides resources and support to help you prepare for tenure and promotion milestones, as well as helping you develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate diverse roles throughout the arc of your career. In addition to annual workshops, CFE maintains sample tenure and promotion dossiers that can be accessed by appointment, and consultation opportunities with team members. Additional information about the tenure and promotion process, including forms and memos, can also be found through the Office of the Provost.

Tenure and Promotion - The First 3 Years
This workshop will provide an overview of the steps in the tenure and promotion process, the contents of the dossier, and tips to help you prepare while navigating the first few years in your faculty role. This workshop is open to all Assistant Professors within their first few years at OU. The annual workshop is held in early February. OU faculty can self-enroll in the Tenure and Promotion Canvas course to access workshop recordings and additional resources.
Tenure and Promotion Workshop - Preparing Your Dossier (4th-5th Year)
This workshop will provide an overview of the specific steps in the tenure and promotion process, the contents of the dossier and information about recommending external reviewers. In addition, recently tenured faculty from the STEM, social sciences, professional programs, humanities, and fine arts will meet with faculty from these respective disciplines to answer any additional questions about the process and experience. This workshop is offered each February and is open to all Assistant Professors at OU who plan to submit their dossiers within the next 2 years. OU faculty can self-enroll in the Tenure and Promotion Canvas course to access workshop recordings and additional resources.
Promotion to Full Workshop - Preparing Your Dossier
This workshop will provide an overview of the steps in the promotion process, the contents of the dossier and information about recommending external reviewers. In addition, recently promoted faculty from the STEM, social sciences, professional programs, humanities, and fine arts will meet with faculty from these respective disciplines to answer any additional questions you might have about the process and experience. This workshop is offered annually in February and is designed for Associate Professors at OU Norman who plan to submit their dossiers within the next 1-2 years. OU faculty can self-enroll in the Tenure and Promotion Canvas course to access workshop recordings and additional resources.
The Center for Faculty Excellence maintains sample tenure and promotion dossiers from OU faculty who have successfully navigated the process. Members of our team are also available for individual consultations for your questions about tenure and promotion criteria, documents, and the overall process. We can help you develop the research and creative activities, teaching, community engagement, and services aspects of our dossier, as well as provide feedback on your statements. Building a Strong Faculty Award Nomination Package
Recognizing our colleagues' valuable contributions through awards is rewarding and important work, but the process can seem mysterious and daunting. In this workshop we will introduce the range of award opportunities at OU, explore historical trends in nominations, explain the submission process, and share tools and tips for creating effective award nomination packages. This workshop will help you develop a plan to efficiently build strong nomination packages for your deserving colleagues. This workshop is open to all faculty; Chairs, Directors, Members of Committees A, and Nominating Committee members are especially encouraged to attend. Managing OU Undergraduate Enrollment in an Era of Desired Growth
This workshop is designed for faculty who want to learn more about how OU manages student enrollment to reach university strategic plan goals. Jeff Blahnik, Vice President of Enrollment Management will share information about OU's admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, and financial aid efforts. University Budgets
This workshop is designed for faculty who want to learn more about OU's budget and how to read budget documents. Stewart Berkinshaw, Associate Vice President for Budget & Finance will share information about OU's overall budget framework and faculty will gain understanding of common budget documents.
