Biography

Professor Carrillo studies racial, class, and environmental inequalities in the US and Brazil. His research interests include sociology of race and ethnicity, economic sociology, and environmental sociology. He has a forthcoming book entitled The Business of Racism: Revaluation and Reaction in Brazil's Racial Capitalism (Duke University Press). His research has received support from the Fulbright Association and the National Science Foundation, and has been published in leading sociology and interdisciplinary journals, including Sociology of Race and EthnicityCurrent SociologyRural SociologySociological Perspectives, and Journal of Peasant Studies.
