OU Sociology Associate Professor Mitchell Peck was named a 2023 recipient of the University of Oklahoma Regents’ Award for Superior Teaching. The award recognizes faculty who have contributed significantly to the core mission of the University in the area of teaching and mentoring students. Professor Peck was noted for providing “the best possible educational experience for our students through excellence in teaching, research and creative activity, and service to the state and society.” Professor Peck excels in all these areas with passion, commitment, and humor. He serves as the Graduate Liaison and a statistics professor for undergraduate and graduate courses, giving generously of his time and expertise in raising the quality and quantity of research productivity for students, and in turn, faculty. With 17 years of service to OU Sociology, Professor Peck is both a transformational classroom teacher and a teacher-mentor-scholar.
