Each year, the sociology department presents two graduate students awards for excellence in research, teaching/TA work, and service to the department. These are the highest honor presented by our department to our graduate students and all awards winner are nominated by a professor with the winners decided by departmental committee. The 2018 Outstanding Master’s student award was presented Xiaoshuang (Iris) Luo. Iris has completed her Master’s degree and will be attending the University of California at Irvine’s PhD program in Criminology, Law, and Society in fall 2018. The 2018 Outstanding Doctoral student award was presented Josh Davis. Josh is currently preparing for his comprehensive exams while pursuing a number of research projects. Great Job and well done Josh and Iris!! We are all very proud of you.
