Melissa S. Jones was recently selected as one of the seven recipients of the $15,000 Nancy L. Mergler Dissertation Completion Fellowship for 2017-2018. Her dissertation project, Violence in the Lives of Women Prisoners, focuses on the linkages between adverse and abusive life histories, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), women’s use of violence, and illicit drug use in the lives of incarcerated women in Oklahoma. Melissa is the first sociology student to win a Nancy L. Mergler Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
