Personal Statement

I am passionate about art and education. As a citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma from Peoria, IL, my goal is to practice gadugi, which means ‘working together’ to help others for the common good. I hope to contribute to this practice by using my education to serve others and support collaborative experiences. My artistic and academic research interests include the intersection of art and research as cultural expression, issues of aesthetics and appropriation as they relate to identity, and Native food sovereignty through community building and understandings of food as medicine.
