Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Lainie and I am from southwest Michigan. I am a first year Native American Studies Masters student with a focus in History, Language and Cultural Knowledge. I earned my bachelor's degree in Native American Studies and History from Northern Michigan University in May of 2023. I am currently a TA for NAS1013 Introduction to Native American Studies and have recently started a position as a researcher for the Oklahoma Catholic Native Schools Project with the Archdiocese of Oklahoma. My research interests center around Native American history in the West, with a specific emphasis on exploring personal narratives of resilience through oral histories. My plan is to continue my academic journey and pursue a History Ph.D. with a focus in Native American History.
