Profile

Liran Yadgar earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago and B.A. and M.A. in Middle Eastern History from Tel Aviv University. He was most recently a Visiting Assistant Professor in Modern Hebrew and Jewish Studies at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, and previously served as a postdoctoral scholar at Yale University, UCLA, and Oklahoma State University. His area of expertise is the history of Jews in the premodern Middle Eastern lands with a focus on readings in Arabic, Judeo-Arabic, and Hebrew. At OU, Dr. Yadgar offers classes in Modern Hebrew, Biblical Hebrew, and Jewish cultures and literatures. In his free time he enjoys drawing and painting, reading and translating poetry, exploring new restaurants, and watching movies.

Dr. Yadgar is a core faculty member in the Schusterman Center for Judaic and Israel Studies, and is looking forward to meeting and working with students and faculty who are interested in Hebrew and Arabic, Judaic and Israel Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies.
