Ann B. Sheldon Scholarship
This scholarship was established at Miss Sheldon's bequest, after her untimely death in the late 1960's, by the OU Alumni Club of Philadelphia. Ann graduated from the University of Oklahoma in the mid-50's, with degrees in math and physics, including a Masters degree in Mathematics. She worked at the DuPont Company until her death.
"I am currently pursuing degrees in mathematics and ballet performance. Upon graduating from OU, I intend on fulfilling one of my dreams of dancing professionally; however, I understand that injuries are prevalent within the art form and most dancers retire between the ages of 30 and 40.
"After my dancing career ends, I plan on focusing on one of my other passions, math, by returning to school to acquire a master’s degree. Along with mathematics, I am quite interested in health; therefore, I believe epidemiology would be a fitting field that marries both topics.
"With a graduate degree, I hope to work at a research center or in a lab setting and make an impact by identifying patterns of disease and with the recent events involving the Coronavirus, I feel confident that pursuing this profession will allow me to truly make a difference."
