Samantha Byrd, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, is a second-year MA student and an Editorial Fellow for the Western Historical Quarterly. She holds a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her research focuses on the Chickasaw Nation during Reconstruction (1866-1907) and the relationships formed between Chickasaw women and White men. She is advised by Dr. Cori Simon and Dr. Anne Hyde.
