Requirements for the HES minor
Students must successfully complete 18 hours of HES course work, 12 of which must be at the upper-division level. In order for courses to be successfully completed, students must earn a grade of "C" or better.
The following specific course requirements must be met:
HES 1823 – Scientific Principles of Health and Disease
HES 2913 – Personal Health
HES UD Elective
HES UD Elective
HES UD Elective
HES UD Elective
The requirements for a minor must be completed concurrently with the major degree requirements. No minor may be added by completing courses after receiving a bachelor's degree. If the minor is officially declared and successfully completed, the student's transcript will so indicate at the time the bachelor's degree is posted.
Students do not need to apply to the HES program to pursue or complete the HES minor. However, the minor must be officially declared with the College of Arts and Sciences.
Students obtaining a minor in HES are not eligible for Internship or Independent Study hours.
NOTE: HES 2823 - Introductory Nutrition may not be used as a substitute for HES 1823 or 2913.
