Background

Kalenda Eaton is a Professor in the Clara Luper Department of African & African American Studies. Her research areas include studies of the American west; 20th-21st century African American Literature and Theory; Women’s Studies; Black social and cultural history; Digital Humanities, and Black Diaspora studies. Notable publications include “Black Women Writers Reclaiming Western Literature,” the co-edited New Directions in Black Western Studies, and “Teaching the Black West” (with Michael Johnson in Teaching Western American Literature).  She is a member of the OU graduate faculty and teaches undergraduate course offerings under AFAM course codes.
