Instructions:
Please consider giving me the below feedback even if you
do not need the extra credit to achieve the grade you want; it is very valuable
to us as we work to improve the class, even beyond the eval.ou.edu questions that you also answer.
Respond to any ten of the questions below and upload your document on the D2L dropbox. Be sure to use the question
numbers as part of your answers. Please be honest, and be aware that
your grade will be unaffected by the content of your answers. (Your
grade in this class is based strictly on the number of points you have earned on each assignment.)
The more detailed the feedback you provide, the better. We intend to use your
comments to improve the class for future semesters. (We also use the course evaluations you fill out at http://eval.ou.edu.)
Here are the questions:
- Which sections (chapters) were most interesting to you and which were the least interesting
to you?
- Which types of assignments (Starting Assumptions, Reading Quizzes, Digging
Deeper, Freelance Writer, or Adopt-a-Species) did you like best? Which did
you like least? Explain.
- Were the time estimates (on each index of assignments) realistic for each
type of assignment? If they weren't, please be specific about which were too
long or too short.
- Overall, which types of assignments were most time consuming? About how
long did it take you to complete that type of assignment?
- In total, about how much time did you spend on this class each week?
- Did you enjoy your interactions with other students in this class?
- Did you learn anything of lasting value as a result of having taken this
class?
- If you could change one thing about this class, what would it be?
- If you could keep one thing the same about this class, what would it be?
- Were the reading quizzes challenging enough that you had to really read
and understand each chapter to get a 4.5 or 5? Or could you just hunt through
the chapter for the answers to the quiz questions?
- Did you feel like you needed the book to be successful in this class, or
could you have completed the course without it?
- What changes, if any, would you recommend in the class point structure?
Do you think the point value of each assignment is proportional to the amount
of work it takes to complete?
- How do you feel about the way that I interacted with students on the discussion board? Would you have liked me to respond to more posts, or to make sure I responded to each student the same number of times? Do you have any other comments about my "public" interactions with students on the discussion board?
- What would you have liked me personally to do differently as the instructor?
(e.g., replied more quickly to emails and questions, responded to more or fewer posts
on D2L, graded assignments differently, etc.)
- Is there a specific assignment (e.g., "Digging Deeper from week X")
that you found especially valuable or worthless? Why?
- Was this course website easy to use? Was the D2L setup easy to use? What improvements can you recommend?
- How useful and user-friendly did you find the MasteringBiology site? What benefits or limitations did you find using the eTextbook?
- How often did you read the emails that I sent/posted during each week? Did
you follow those links to assignments, did you use each week's "index"
page at the Weekly Schedule, the posted MS Excel/pdf schedule spreadsheet, and/or
did you use the links on D2L
to assignment instructions?
- Freestyle! Do you have any other comments about the course that you would
like to share?
For extra credit, answer any 10 of the above questions. Please use the question
numbers so I know which questions you are answering. Upload your responses in
the Course Feedback Dropbox in D2L.
After you have posted or emailed your answers, go to Desire2Learn
and complete the Gradebook Declaration for this week's Course Feedback assignment.
(Your Gradebook Declaration is subject to the Honor
Code.)
Here is the text of the Desire2Learn Gradebook
Declaration:
(5 points) I have posted the answers to 10 "Course Feedback"
questions at D2L. |
Thank you for your feedback!
