Great students make a great program. The School of Meteorology has an outstanding student body that…
  • Is frequently awarded NOAA Hollings Scholarships
  • Numerous undergraduates and graduates receive awards for Outstanding Oral and Posters Presentation at national conferences. Nearly all our seniors are sent to professional conferences.
  • Nearly 45% of our seniors graduate with honors ranging from Distinction to Summa cum Laude.
  • Students graduate with minors such as Aerospace Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Computer Science, Economics, General Business, History, Hydrological Science, Mathematics, Physics and Spanish.
  • Approximately half of our undergraduate students go on to graduate schools across the nation.

Storm Chasing Policy

The University of Oklahoma’s College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences does not condone or encourage storm chasing by students. Anyone who chooses to chase storms does so at their own risk and should not imply that their activities are connected with the University. The only possible exception is when students are officially included in storm intercept activities conducted as part of well-planned and safety-trained scientific projects led by faculty or scientists in the National Weather Center research units. Storm chasing is not part of the School of Meteorology course curriculum nor should such activities take precedence over the academic activities of the School such as coursework and attending classes and seminars.

Students also pursue a variety of minors, including Computer Science, Math, Physics, Broadcast Meteorology, and more.

Learn more by viewing the OU Course Catalog outlining your options.

Students may also be interested in pursuing one of our 4+1 programs, which allow students to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Data Science and Analytics (DSA) in just five years.

Students interested in receiving academic credit for a meteorology internship (METR 3890) must get approval to enroll prior to your internship beginning. To do so, complete the form below.
