currently operates the largest undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science in the United States
The University of Oklahoma’s College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences does not condone or encourage storm chasing by students. Anyone who chooses to chase storms does so at their own risk and should not imply that their activities are connected with the University. The only possible exception is when students are officially included in storm intercept activities conducted as part of well-planned and safety-trained scientific projects led by faculty or scientists in the National Weather Center research units. Storm chasing is not part of the School of Meteorology course curriculum nor should such activities take precedence over the academic activities of the School such as coursework and attending classes and seminars.
Students complete a rigorous degree program designed to prepare them to enter the workforce as a strong competitor, or to move on to graduate school at a top institution.
Details about our undergraduate degree programs, admissions, policies, scholarships, and more can be found in the handbook:

Students also pursue a variety of minors, including Computer Science, Math, Physics, Broadcast Meteorology, and more.
Learn more by viewing the OU Course Catalog outlining your options.
Students may also be interested in pursuing one of our 4+1 programs, which allow students to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Data Science and Analytics (DSA) in just five years.
Students interested in receiving academic credit for a meteorology internship (METR 3890) must get approval to enroll prior to your internship beginning. To do so, complete the form below.
Detailed information about the degrees offered at the School of Meteorology, admission practices and other important policies related to the School of Meteorology graduate programs can be found in the Graduate Student Handbook. Please review this document carefully. It also provides information related to graduate student funding, student organizations, and describes the rules for membership on M.S. and Ph. D committees.
The School of Meteorology works to comply with all federal laws and university resource policies. We have partnered with the National Weather Center (NWC) to provide a satellite testing space for our students.
