These are just three ways to describe what the Class of 2024 found during their time at the University of Oklahoma. As thousands prepare to walk across the graduation stage to receive their diploma, discover what comes next for the newest members of the OU alumni family.

This May, the University honors our graduates during the 132nd commencement ceremony. In celebration, we gathered the inspiring stories of our new alumni, from OU legacy to first-generation college students.

Mia-Lynne Smith

Mia-Lynne Smith

Tulsa native Mia-Lynne Smith was honored with OU's Overall Outstanding Senior award after completing a bachelor's degree focusing on marketing and Entrepreneurship. Leaving behind a legacy of mentorship for future OU students, Mia-Lynne looks forward to competing in the Miss Oklahoma pageant this summer.

Andrew Jacob

Andrew Jacob

From recording a music score for the movie Iké Boys to beginning his own student organization, Oklahoma City native Andrew Jacob spent his OU career building strong personal and professional connections. Andrew's next steps are taking him to Scotland to the Royal Conservatoire.

Uzo Ogbanufe

Texas native Uzo Ogbanufe used her time at OU to complete two internships as a software and computer engineer, won a hackathon, and secured her next steps in her professional field with Microsoft in Dallas, Texas.

Addie Whightsil

Hailing from Frisco, Texas, Addie Whighstil graduated with a public relations degree after spending four years involved in Greek Life, the OU Food Pantry, and student leadership. Addie will begin work at a public relations agency in Dallas, Texas, in August.


First-Generation & Military Family

Ian Fontenoy

Ian Fontenoy, first-generation student, Oklahoma native, and the son of two U.S. Air Force Veterans, graduated from OU with a degree in aviation management. As his next chapter begins, Ian hopes to work at the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City.

Jaci Walker

Allen, Texas native Jaci Walker earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Along the way, she found ways to connect through her OU community, including helping plan a concert featuring Chance the Rapper. This fall, Jaci will attend the University of North Texas Health Science Center's Physician Assistant Students program.

Public Health graduate and Dallas, Texas native Julian Ruger has left his mark across campus through Greek Life, philanthropy, and his commitment to community. This summer, Julian will intern with the Inasmuch Foundation at the ReStore OKC.

Alex Core

From Frisco, Texas, Alex Core studied music education during her time at OU. From playing in the Pride of Oklahoma to facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as a freshman head-on, Alex's OU story is one of dedication. Post-graduation, Alex will work as a band director.
