These are just three ways to describe what the Class of 2023 found during their time at the University of Oklahoma. As thousands prepare to walk across the graduation stage to receive their diploma, discover what comes next for the newest members of the OU alumni family.

On May 13, 2023, the university will honor the class of 2023 during the 131th commencement ceremony. To celebrate, we gathered the stories of our newest alumni, from OU legacy students to first-generation college students.

Adam El-Amoudi

Adam El-Amoudi grew up in Guymon, Oklahoma and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology. Adam likes to say he may not be Sooner bred, but he was Sooner born. Despite not coming from an OU family, he knew from a young age his dreams would take him to the University of Oklahoma.

Jolie Morgan

Sooner born and Sooner bred Jolie Morgan is from Tahlequah, Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. Jolie grew up dreaming of crimson and cream, and earning her degree from the University of Oklahoma means she has accomplished her dreams as the child of two OU graduates!

Joy Nath

Joy Nath graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics as a United World College Davis Scholar from New Delhi, India. During his time at OU as an international student, Joy has left a legacy of advocacy and positive change for future generations of students.

Avery Dickinson

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Avery Dickinson earned her Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. OU gave her the room to explore and encourage her passions, which eventually led her to find an internship at OU's Engineering Career Fair with American Airlines. This opportunity turned into a full-time job offer!

Cecil Ehirindu

Lewisville, Texas native Cecil Ehirindu earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Along the way, he found ways to push past his comfort zone to a space where he could flourish. This fall, Cecil will attend Yale University School of Public Health to obtain a master’s degree on a full-ride scholarship.

Bright Qiu

Bright Qiu grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelor's in Journalism in Public Relations. As the daughter of Chinese-immigrant parents, Bright's OU legacy is making her parents proud of what she accomplished as an OU graduate.

Javier Martinez

Hailing from Guymon, Oklahoma, Javier Martinez graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. As a first-generation student from a small town in rural Oklahoma, Javier honors his past as he moves toward a bright future.

Alejandra Flores

Hailing from Allen, Texas, Alejandra earned her Bachelor of Arts in International and Area Studies. Life after graduation for Alejandra is a full-time position as a news reporter for Oklahoma City-based channel Telemundo Noticiero.
