My Sooner Legacy...
I hope I leave a warm and exciting atmosphere in the student organizations I took part in. I made my decisions based off of not what my personal legacy would be, but what the legacy of an organization would be. This mentality allowed me to give everything I was part of my absolute best.

Why OU

I like to say I was Sooner born but not Sooner bred. I didn't grow up in a Sooner family, but I chose the school on my own at an early age. As a kid, I might not have known what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I knew I wanted to be a Sooner. After meeting with my OU admissions counselor, she showed me what it would look like as an active member of the OU Family. Because of this intentionality and the opportunities given to me, I decided to attend the University of Oklahoma.

The Best Lesson OU Gave Me

Never miss a moment. If you have a chance to make a memory, drop what you can and go do it.

OU as a First-Generation Student

As a first-generation college student, I felt the responsibility to make my family proud and to bring honor to my last name. Because of this, I will not only have my bachelor's, but my master's and doctorate as well someday. Being a first-generation student is not always the easiest. There were many times of confusion throughout the college search, scholarships, and just navigating daily life. Luckily, I made strong friendships and connections at OU that helped me along the way. Despite the hardships I faced, I would not change a single thing about my time at OU. I've learned how to love more intentionally, be a mentor for the people who come after me, and appreciate the here and now.

Extracurriculars

  • Campus Activities Council's College Bowl

I applied for College Bowl because I love pop culture trivia and my friends do as well. I spent three years with the organization, where I was able to share my love of trivia with others and be in an exciting club with my friends.

  • LEAD Team

OU LEAD Team is a peer Leadership Education And Development team. I knew people that were in LEAD Team who raved about the experience and leadership skills they gained from being in the organization. I applied because I thought it would be a great way to grow in my leadership skills and give back to my university at the same time.

  • Pre-Dental Club

Since I was on a pre-dental track, I wanted to meet people with the same interest and grow in my knowledge of the field of dentistry at the same time.

What comes next

I plan on attending the University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus, where I will earn my Master's of Modern Human Anatomy and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
