Freshman Application Fee Waivers

We know every dollar counts when you're saving for college. Our final scholarship admission deadline is December 15, and here are some ways you can save $50 and get your application fee waived when applying to OU!

Alumni Fee Waiver Code

One option is the Alumni Fee Waiver Code. Here's how you can use an Alumni Fee Waiver:

Connect with a Sooner alum and ask about the Alumni Fee Waiver.
Sooner alumni may request their code by contacting the Alumni Association at alumni@ou.edu.
Start the OU Application for admission and submit it by December 15 to be considered for general freshman scholarships.
When prompted in the OU Application, Common Application, or Apply Coalition with Scoir, enter the six-digit code and the alum's first and last name.

Financial Need Fee Waiver

Students may also be eligible for a fee waiver if they show financial need by meeting ONE of a number of criteria. These include:

Student has received or is eligible to receive an ACT or SAT fee waiver.
Student is enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch program (FRLP).
Student’s annual family income falls within the economic Eligibility Guidelines* set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
Student is enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g. TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
Student’s family receives public assistance.
Student lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home, or is homeless.
Student is a ward of the state or an orphan.
Other request from high school principal, counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader.

If you apply to OU using our application (not Common App or Apply Coalition with Scoir)

The application will provide you with an OU fee waiver form. You must print and complete that form and return it to the OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment. Please note that the form does include a counselor/authorized official section.

If you apply to OU using Apply Coalition with Scoir

If you indicate on the Apply Coalition with Scoir application that you qualify for an application fee waiver, a fee waiver request form will be sent to the email address you provided on the application. A high school counselor or other authorized high school official must sign the form, verifying your qualification. You must return the completed form to the OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment in order for the application fee to be waived.

If you apply to OU using Common App

The fee waiver form is submitted digitally. If you indicate that you are eligible for a fee waiver, your high school counselor will verify that on the counselor section of your application in Common App.

Oklahoma's Promise Eligible Students

Option 1: Apply through the OU Application

Create, complete, and submit your application. If you're eligible for Oklahoma's Promise, our OU application will automatically waive your fee when you click "submit." This means you can submit your application without paying the application fee.

Option 2: Apply through the Common Application

Create and complete your application.
On the OU Member page in the “General” section, select “University of Oklahoma Alumni Fee Waiver” related to the school-specific fee waiver question.
Type OKP2024 in both boxes.
Finalize and submit your application.

Option 3: Apply through Apply Coalition with Scoir

Create and complete your application.
In the "Application Fee Waiver" portion of the application, select "Yes" for an alumni application fee waiver code.
Type OKP2024 in both boxes.
Finalize and submit your application.

If your application fee is not waived and you are Oklahoma's Promise eligible, please contact the Office of Admissions & Recruitment at admissions@ou.edu.

UWC Scholars

UWC Scholars applying to OU are eligible for a Common App fee waiver. Please see the OU UWC Scholars Program website or email uwcscholars@ou.edu for more information.
