Goals of an Alumni Ambassador
Promote the November 1 early action admission deadline and December 15 final admission scholarship deadline. If after that date, remind students about the February 1 final admission deadline, and the May 1 enrollment deposit deadline.
Encourage students to visit campus – preferably a personalized visit.
Help the admissions and recruitment staff build relationships with students. Pass out OU staff member business cards and encourage students to contact them.
Talk about your OU experience as a way to connect and create a vision for the prospective student and their family.
Speak in generalities rather than specifics on admission. Refer to the website and publications.
- Also, If you don’t know the answer, that is okay! You are not expected to memorize every detail. Simply tell them “I’m an alum/parent/volunteer. Please contact (admission counselor name) with that question” and give them our business card OR write down their contact info and question and pass it to one of us.
