OU to Enhance Infrastructure to Further Support Academic and Research Missions

Digestive Problems in ‘Long COVID’ Linked to Psychological Trauma, According to OU College of Medicine Research

Many people who were hospitalized with COVID-19 when the virus arrived in spring 2020 experienced a high rate of gastrointestinal problems and psychological trauma more than a year later, according to a recently published study led in Oklahoma by the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.

OU Engineering Leads $1.8M Project for Military Efficiency

Li Song, Ph.D., a mechanical engineering professor at the University of Oklahoma, has received a $1.18 million grant from the Department of Defense to design a system for simultaneous heating and cooling demands at military installations, with the goal of enhancing efficiency and reliability.

OU Health Sciences Rises in Ranking of NIH Research Funding

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences grew its funding from the National Institutes of Health to $64.4 million in 2022-23, an increase of more than $4 million over the previous year. That improves the campus’s ranking to 122 out of 2,886 institutions and other entities that receive NIH funding. The listing is compiled by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, which is regarded as the gold standard for ranking biomedical research institutions. Funding from the NIH is considered the key benchmark for research productivity and reputation for health sciences.

OU Receives $1.4 Million Grant for Wildfire Research

January 24, 2024

The Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) at the University of Oklahoma has received $1.4 million to conduct research into mitigating the impacts of wildfires across the country. The grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is part of a $34 million national initiative to improve the understanding and modeling of wildfire behavior and integrate that into weather forecasting and wildfire warnings.
