OU Elevate, a five-year project (August 1, 2022 through July 31, 2027) funded by a $3M grant from the ADVANCE Program of the National Science Foundation (NSF), will create, test, and implement a multi-step process to ensure that policies and practices used in evaluating faculty performance are aligned with institutional goals and aspirations. By working closely with individual faculty, academic units, faculty governance, and OU administrators, OU Elevate will develop a comprehensive, reliable, and customizable evaluation toolkit that encompasses the full scope of faculty activities and achievements in teaching and student success, research and creative activity, and impactful and transformative service and engagement.
The implementation of this toolkit will provide valid and consistent evaluation metrics, which can then be reliably used to reward and incentivize faculty engagement in impactful work that is aligned with the university’s institutional goals and the OU strategic plan. The work carried out through the OU Elevate project will propel OU into a leadership role at the national level, providing a model that can be adopted by other institutions in revising and re-envisioning faculty annual evaluation systems. It will enhance the value and impact of teaching, research and creative activity, and service/community engagement of all faculty at the institution, helping OU become a top tier university that is a place of belonging to all faculty, staff, and students.
