AI @ OU

IT AI Resource Center

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is an emerging capability in many digital tools and services. The generative AI advancements are coming with breathtaking speed and can be exciting – and scary - tools for innovation and opportunity in higher education.

This OU IT AI Resource Center page is designed to provide clear, understandable insights into what these AI advancements might mean for you. This page can serve as a platform for information on emerging and available resources, but we understand that the landscape of AI is a collective exploration where diverse perspectives enrich the conversation around these technologies.

As we continue to investigate the ability of AI features for our IT services, we are committed to providing transparent, user-friendly explanations and guidance. We aim to ensure that every member of the OU community can confidently navigate and benefit from these advancements in technology.

AI Related Services Available Now

Microsoft Copilot for Web

Microsoft Copilot with organizational data protection (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) is an everyday AI companion; providing Chat GPT4 AI-powered chat for the web. Copilot is available for use by OU faculty and staff. It is the recommended way to use generative AI within the OU environment.

Knowbe4 AIDA

Using data from AIDA, KnowBe4’s AI-Driven Phishing and AI-Recommended Optional Learning features provide a more individualized learning experience that adapts to specific roles, current level of knowledge, phishing and training performance history, and risk factors of university personnel.

Zoom AI Companion

Zoom AI Companion brings AI-powered post-meeting summaries, making virtual meetings more accessible and efficient across all devices. Faculty and staff have the option to activate this service for meetings they host on their OU Zoom account. Zoom Meeting Summary is available on a meeting-by-meeting basis if enabled by the meeting organizer.

Gradescope

Gradescope is a feedback and assessment tool that may reduce the time associated with grading exams, homework, and other assignments. AI-assisted Grading allows instructors to automatically group similar answers and grade all the answers in each group at once. Dynamic rubrics help streamline the tedious parts of grading while increasing grading consistency.

Adobe Firefly

Adobe's Firefly uses generative AI and simple text prompts to create high-quality graphical outputs such as - images, text effects, and alternative color palettes. Firefly introduces the ability to make all-new content from reference images and explore various design possibilities quickly.

MyMedia - ADA Compliant Captions

Kaltura MyMedia automatically adds AI captions to any uploaded video, but they currently do not meet the ADA-required percentage of accuracy. OU has a contract with a vendor to provide ADA-level captions. If you have a request for ADA-compliant captions, please fill out the request form from the Oklahoma Accessibility and Disability Resource Center.

Copilot for Microsoft 365

Copilot for Microsoft 365 (M365 Copilot) combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with OU’s own protected data within the flow of work by working alongside Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. M365 is an optional service and is not included in OU's Microsoft license agreement. OU is currently running a 3-phase pilot project to evaluate the viability and cost-effectiveness of M365 within the OU enterprise.

Assignments in the Era of Generative AI

Tuesday, August 6th, 2024  10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

How do we get students to “think with” generative AI rather than rely on generative AI think for them? How does the use of generative AI align with your own teaching philosophy? In this workshop, you’ll articulate how you would like to address generative AI in assignments. We’ll then collaboratively work together to discuss what assignment types may limit the misuse of generative AI and which can incorporate generative AI to aid a student in their own learning. Throughout, we’ll situate student motivation as an important consideration in any assignment created. Be prepared to be asked to login to either Copilot, ChatGPT or ClaudeAI as part of our exploration.

This workshop is part of the CFE Teaching faculty development curriculum plan (Assessment 209).
