Several events celebrating diversity and inclusion are scheduled across the university’s campuses. Events are free and open to the public unless indicated otherwise.

 

OU-Tulsa Campus Climate Survey is out for participation

The 2019 OU-Tulsa Campus Climate Survey will assist in creating a strategic plan for diversity and inclusive initiatives on the OU-Tulsa campus and clinics. This survey is completely anonymous and voluntary. The survey is open to members of the OU-Tulsa community. OU-Tulsa is also sponsoring a Pledge for Equity campaign. OU HSC Black History Month Book Drive

OU Health Sciences Center will be collecting new or gently used books for Pre-K through 5th grade until Feb. 28. Books may be dropped off on the 2nd floor of the Bird Library or the 1st floor of the HSC Student Union. All donations will benefit Edwards Elementary.

 

“How to be an Antiracist” starting at 7 p.m. in the Reynolds Performing Arts Center, Norman

Ibram X. Kendi, The New York Times best-selling author, professor of history and international relations and the founding director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University. He won the National Book Award for Nonfiction for “Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America.”  Hosted by the OU College of Arts and Sciences and Clara Luper Department of African and African-American Studies. A free screening of the film “Green Book” will take place at 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and midnight on Friday, Feb. 22, in Meacham Auditorium, OMU, Norman

Nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA and SAG awards, among others, it is the story of a working-class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South.

HSC African American Student Association (AASA) is hosting a Lunch & Learn with a free screening of the CBS Sunday Morning documentary "Blackface: a cultural history of a racist art form" followed by a discussion.
