The University of Oklahoma raised more than $11 million during Giving Day 2022, breaking its goal of raising $10 million and setting a new one-day fundraising record.
During the 24-hour digital fundraising event on April 14, the university received 2,978 gifts totaling $11,043,083 from faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends across 41 states.
“Because of the generosity of the OU community, OU’s sacred purpose – that we change lives – lives on,” said OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. “The support that we received through OU Giving Day will have an extraordinary impact on the lives of our students and help us build upon a legacy more than 130 years in the making.”
OU Giving Day brings together the entire OU community to support students, departments, programs and groundbreaking research across all three OU campuses. The annual event also aims to educate students on the importance of philanthropy in the educational experience.
“Yesterday was an incredible day for the OU family,” said Amy Noah, vice president and chief advancement officer for the OU Foundation. “Our campus communities joined together to promote and celebrate the great work that happens every day at the University of Oklahoma. Our alumni and friends showed their pride and support by contributing over $11 million during a 24-hour period. OU is truly a special place, and yesterday was a testament to the loyalty and commitment that is felt by so many across our state and beyond.”
