OU Class of 2020 Gift to Benefit Three Campus Projects

OU Class of 2020 Gift to Benefit Three Campus Projects

April 28, 2020

Members of the University of Oklahoma Class of 2020 will commemorate their time at OU by directly impacting three campus projects – the University Counseling Center, the Gender and Equality Center, and Study Abroad Support.

Traditionally, each graduating class at OU supports a class gift that serves as a reflection of their time spent at OU and as a “thank you” to their alma mater.

“The value we hope to instill in students through donating to the class gift is that there is so much more to a legacy than leaving a physical marker on campus,” said Student Alumni Board President Kristen Williams. “Giving back to the organizations that play a major role in the university experience will directly impact future students.”

Funds raised for the class gift will help support additional counseling sessions and international travel for students who demonstrate financial need. The class gift will also help grow and promote programs and resources available to the student body to eradicate gender inequality.

Members of the Class of 2020 voted during the fall semester to dedicate their gift to these areas of campus. Seniors are encouraged to honor their graduation year with a contribution of $20.20.

Since 1906, OU students have left behind a special gift to campus and all the students who follow in their footsteps. Over the years, many class gifts have become beloved campus landmarks, such as the Cherokee Gothic arches that welcome visitors to the university, the Spoonholder, the Reflecting Pool at The Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Parrington Oval and the Union Plaza of Oklahoma Memorial Union.
