Run For Stephenson Cancer Center

Cody's Run for Stephenson Cancer Center

Sign up for the fifth annual Cody’s Run, held on Saturday, April 22 on campus! Run to raise funds for patients at OU's Stephenson Cancer Center.

NORMAN – The fifth annual Cody’s Run will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 on the University of Oklahoma campus.

Cody's Run consists of a sanctioned 5K race and a one-mile Fun Walk. Registration for both the 5K and the Fun Walk is $25. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Cody Ponder Emergency Endowment Fund established through The University of Oklahoma Foundation to benefit patients at OU’s Stephenson Cancer Center.  Last year’s event raised over $25,000.

“Cody and I never experienced financial distress during his cancer journey,” said Johnnie-Margaret McConnell, Ponder’s wife. “Unfortunately, this is not the case for many families. Cody was always giving to others, especially those in need. I could think of no better way to honor his life’s legacy than to establish a fund to do just this for other fighting cancer.”

The start line for this year’s run will be located at the Oklahoma Memorial Union, 900 Asp Ave. Parking will be located along Asp Avenue as well as in campus parking lots east of Jenkins. Check-in and registration will begin at 7 a.m. and all events will conclude at 9:45 a.m.

About Cody’s Run

The University of Oklahoma, Cleveland Area Rapid Transit and friends and family of the late Cody Ponder established Cody’s Run to commemorate Cody’s wish that his experiences would inform the larger fight to eradicate cancer. Cody specifically chose treatment and care at the Stephenson Cancer Center at The University of Oklahoma because he found the research teams and medical professionals among the best in the country for his treatment.
