NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma set two Guinness World Records™ titles for the largest human image of a cloud and the largest human image of a lightning bolt, which were featured this morning on NBC’s TODAY as part of Rokerthon 3: Storming Into The Madness. The live national broadcast with TODAY’s Al Roker took place at The Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. More than 800 OU students formed the two weather elements on Owen Field.
In honor of March Madness, Roker is visiting five college campuses in five days to help students attempt to set five Guinness World Records™ titles. OU was the only Big 12 school selected among the more than 100 universities across the nation that submitted applications for Rokerthon 3: Storming Into The Madness. OU students wore ponchos to form the weather images on the field. Additional figures formed throughout the national broadcast included the sun as well as a live weather forecast map in the shape of the United States. In a surprise presentation, Rokerthon PurePoint Financial Scholarship presented $5,000 scholarships to OU students Kelsey Hawk and Kelsey Hull.
