The announcement was made at the May meeting of the OU Board of Regents.
“Judi and David Proctor have made a difference in the lives of numerous OU students through their outstanding support of scholarships,” Boren said. “Now more than ever the support of our donors and friends is critical to ensure the doors of opportunity remain open to every qualified student who has the desire to attend the University of Oklahoma.”
The Proctors have established numerous scholarships in the College of Arts and Sciences, including one for math majors, one for arts and sciences students and one for visual art or art history majors in memory of their late sons, David Michael Proctor and Matthew David Proctor as well as a Post-Eligibility Scholarship Endowment for OU student-athletes who have exhausted their NCAA eligibility to return to the University to continue their studies and complete their degree. Both David Proctor and Judi Proctor have also designated the OU College of Arts and Sciences as benefactors of planned gifts.
The Proctors are longtime members of the President’s Associates and Sooner Club. David Proctor graduated from OU in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Both he and Judi Proctor previously worked for IBM and are currently retired.
