Sooner Weekend: Pups on Campus, Free Comic Book Day & More

#SoonerWknd: Pups on Campus, Free Comic Book Day & More

Finals are creeping up, but don’t let that stop you from unwinding this weekend. On tap for your #SoonerWknd: Free Comic Book Day, therapy pups at the Biz and more.

April 30-May 3

Samantha Crain at the Deli

One of our favorite local musicians Samantha Crain will perform at the Deli in Norman from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday night. What’s more? You can see the Shawnee-born songstress for free and save that cash for your finals week caffeine fix.

‘Focus’ in Meacham Auditorium

Take advantage of one more free movie night in Meacham before you embark on your summer adventures. The Union Programming Board presents the American romantic black comedy-drama film “Focus,” starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Rodrigo Santoro. Showtimes are 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and midnight Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

Therapy dogs at Bizzell

Your study game has been strong this week, Sooners. Reward yourself with a little puppy love in the Bizzell Memorial Library. The library will bring in dogs so you can have your own little therapy sesh, unwind and mentally prepare for those finals next week. Bizzell has lots going on for you this week, but you’ll find the puppy action from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Steve Reynolds Program at Opolis

The Opolis hosts a whole mess of stuff starting at 8 p.m. Saturday and how they fit it into one evening we’re not quite sure. But we’re not here to discuss logistics, are we? The bar and music venue hosts the Steve Reynolds Program, which includes dance professor and choreographer Austin Hartel schooling you on modern dance moves. Plus comedians, musicians, writers and documentarians will round out the night. Cost is $5.

Free Comic Book Day

We know you Sooners get down with some good comics, so go snag yourself some free reads and hang out with other graphic novel fanatics at the Moore Public Library’s Free Comic Book Day Saturday. The library has its neighborhood comic shop DZ Comics to thank for the complementary comic books.
