Sooner Weekend: Norman Music Festival, Sooner Idol, and More

#SoonerWknd: Norman Music Festival, Sooner Idol, OU Baseball

Finals Week is almost here! While you may be planning to buckle down and study, make sure you plan a break and hang out at some of this weekend's many festivities!

April 23-26

Norman Music Festival

The Norman Music Festival is hands down one of the greatest weekends of the year that our little town has to offer. This year’s fête kicks off Thursday night in downtown Norman. With amazing headliners that include Ra Ra Riot, Horse Thief and Nadastorm, the festival is sure to please all you live-show junkies out there. Want to hear the best part? The festival is completely free to the public. That’s right, FREE. Be sure to see the site for the full festival schedule and VIP options.

Sooner Idol

If the music festival doesn’t fix your craving for live music, you’re in luck! Ten of the best Sooner-Crooners on campus compete for the glory and prestige that comes with the title of Sooner Idol at 7 p.m. Friday in Meacham Auditorium. For more event details, see the OU Campus Calendar listing.

Sooner Saturday

Heads up! This weekend brings Sooner Saturday and a ton of potential students with it. Have a sibling or friend who is considering OU as their next step in education? Encourage them to register for this year’s Sooner Saturday. Future Sooners have the opportunity to explore and try on the Sooner experience for themselves in a day full of open houses and campus tours. The showcase starts early at 9 a.m. Saturday, but be sure to register here before then by calling 405-325-2151 or 800-234-6868!

OU Baseball

Nothing sets the mood for summer quite like baseball. Come out and support the Sooners as they challenge Sam Houston University to a series of games this weekend. With three opportunities to catch the boys in action at 6 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the L. Dale Mitchell Park, you’ll have ample opportunity to cheer on the team. For tickets and upcoming games, visit the ticket site

Oklahoma Memorial Marathon

Out of one the darkest moments in Oklahoma’s history has arisen a proud tradition that commemorates the lives of those lost in the Oklahoma City bombing. The annual Oklahoma Memorial Marathon takes place Sunday in downtown OKC. Proceeds from the race go solely to benefit the Oklahoma Memorial Museum. Whether you want to volunteer, run or support runners, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved! Visit the marathon site to see how you can be a part of a day of remembrance.
