1. 7 Levels of the Candy Cane Forest

Don't be a cotton headed ninny muggins - It's time to celebrate the winter season at OU with UPB as we present The 7...

Posted by Union Programming Board on Friday, November 27, 2015

You heard them: Don’t be a cotton-headed ninny muggins. Come out to Beaird Lounge on the second floor of the Oklahoma Memorial Union for waffles (yum!), hot chocolate and a showing of the holiday classic “Elf.” What better way to kick off the holiday season than to join Union Programming Board from 7-9 p.m. on Friday? Did we mention that it's free?

2. ‘The Nutcracker’

It’s a holiday must. Join University Theatre as it premieres “The Nutcracker” at 8 p.m. Friday. You can also catch it at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are cheaper if purchased in advance and range in price for different ages. Come enjoy swirling snowflakes, handsome princes and you can’t forget the sugar plum fairy.

3. 24th Annual Holiday Celebration

Deck the Halls with free hot chocolate, live music, inflatables and, of course, Santa. It's time for the 24th Annual Holiday Celebration. Festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. with a tree lighting at 6 p.m at Andrews Park in Norman. Be sure to bundle up and don’t be too shy to tell Santa what you want for Christmas. (We hear he’s a great gift giver.)

4. Snow Tubing Winter Festival

We might not have snow falling from the sky, but snow has fallen in Oklahoma City. Hear us out: We're talking about the Snow Tubing Winter Festival at OKC’s Dodger Stadium. Including two snow tubing slopes, it's sure to send a chill down your spine, literally and figuratively. Take your pick of three sessions: noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for tubing individuals are $14 and spectators are welcome in for $3. Whether participating or watching, you do not want to miss out.

5. ‘Straight Outta Compton’

straight outta nompton

Compton’s in Nompton. (That’s a tongue twister). Come out to Meacham Auditorium Friday or Saturday to escape from the cold and relax while watching “Straight Outta Compton.” The event is hosted by UPB and showings include 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and midnight on Friday along with showings at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m on Saturday. It's another free event for those who are saving some cash for holiday shopping.
