Latino Student Life brings to the University of Oklahoma the inspiring success story of Richard Montanez at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Oklahoma Memorial Union Meacham Auditorium.
The Sooner Lideres, a Latino Student Life committee, presents, “An Evening with Richard Montanez: Creator of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and the Godfather of Hispanic Branding.”
Richard Montanez will speak about his life journey from a former Frito-Lay janitor to the now Executive Vice President of Multicultural Sales and Community Activation for PepsiCo. Admission is free for all.
“Mr. Montanez has a message of hope. One’s hard work, and mind can lead them to success in life. His story is incredible and appeals to a wide variety of people,” said Mayra Garcia, member of the Sooner Lideres.
Mr. Montanez is now an established entrepreneur and leader among the Hispanic community, serving as member of several nonprofit organizations. Montanez has used his ingenuity and experience to help other brands such as KFC and Taco bell enhance their multicultural products.
In addition, he serves as a motivational speaker throughout the country, sharing his drive of determination and entrepreneurship. His perseverance combined with his business experience creates an empowering message of success despite circumstances.
Among his achievements is his inspiring autobiography titled “A Boy, A Burrito and A Cookie.” Students will have the opportunity to participate in the book signing and meet-and-greet after the presentation.
