Sooner Weekend: Mr. OU, Sunday S’mores & Campus Coffee Crawl

#SoonerWknd: Mr. OU Pageant, Sunday S’mores & Campus Coffee Crawl

This weekend’s shaping up to be one of the best. Happenings include a block party, s’mores and OU masculinity on display at the Mr. OU Pageant.

1. Mr. OU Pageant

It’s raining men at the University of Oklahoma Friday. Can we get a “Hallelujah!” for that? Fifteen male contestants will have a friendly face-off to win the title of Mr. OU. 7 p.m. inside Meacham Hall. The satirical pageant, hosted by the Union Programming Board, raises awareness for men's health in conjunction with Movember USA.

2. Sunday s’mores

S’mores? Don’t mind if we do! Grab some friends and cozy-up at Headington Hall courtyard from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday and get your fill of the ooey, gooey treats and meet College of Arts & Sciences Dean Kelly Damphousse. You’ll have the mentorship program ConnectU to thank for the “S'mores with Dean Damphousse” event. RSVP by midnight Saturday.

3. ’90s nostalgia

This one’s for the over-21 Sooners (sorry, you young things). Revel in some ’90s nostalgia as the cover band My So Called Band takes you back to the days of Lisa Loeb, Salt-N-Pepa and Montell Jordan. You’ll find them Saturday night at the Deli. The show usually starts around 10 p.m. with a $10 cover.

4. Premiere on Film Row

Did someone say block party? Count us in. Head up to Oklahoma City Friday night to check out the monthly street festival, Premiere on Film Row. It wouldn’t be a block party without food trucks, so come hungry, and, plan to stick around for film screenings and live music. Punch the intersection of Sheridan and Lee into your GPS and get there between 6:30 and 10 p.m. to shop at the Night Bazaar, an alternative holiday popup market.

5. Campus Coffee Crawl

If you’re just now getting around to the #CampusCoffeeCrawl, it’s going to feel more like Campus Coffee Crunch. (Because it’s crunch time, anyone?) The crawl wraps up on Friday the 21st, so make these final days count, Sooners. The stakes are high, with free coffee during Dead Week on the line.

Have an event you’d like promoted in Sooner Weekend? First check the OU Campus Calendar to make sure it's not already listed. If it's not — get it on there! Your event could be featured in an upcoming #SoonerWknd events roundup.
