NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma achieved an 80 percent graduation rate overall for student-athletes, the highest mark ever recorded by the Sooners since the NCAA began tracking this data.
Seven Oklahoma programs attained a 100 percent rate for the reporting period: women’s basketball, women’s gymnastics, volleyball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s golf and rowing. Women’s basketball has produced a perfect graduation rate each of the past two years.
“We are very proud that our student-athletes are not only champions on the playing fields and courts but in the classrooms as well,” said OU President David L. Boren. “Their record is a strong statement about the commitment to academic excellence at the University of Oklahoma.”
OU’s student-athletes have achieved an increase in graduation rates in each of the past four years. This week’s report from the NCAA reflects a four-year average, beginning with the freshman class that enrolled in 2007-08.
OU student-athletes set an all-time record with a 3.06 cumulative grade point average across all 21 sports during the fall 2013 semester.
