People of all beliefs and perspectives are invited to ring in the holiday season with the University of Oklahoma’s annual holiday lights celebration, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in David A. Burr Park, 1501 Asp Ave. The park is located south of the Huston Huffman Fitness Center and east of the student residence halls.
Participants can join in the festive celebration of lighting the holiday tree and menorah, sing along to holiday music, see Santa Claus and his elves, and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, hot apple cider and cookies. The Singing Sooners and the OU Wind Symphony Brass will perform seasonal music. Offering remarks about the season will be OU President David L. Boren; OU Student Association President Joe Sangirardi; Barbara Boyd, director of outreach for the Religious Studies Program and adjunct professor of religious studies; and Norman Stillman, professor of Judaic history and program director of Judaic Studies.
In the event of inclement weather, the holiday celebration will take place in Couch Restaurants, 333 Fourth St.
