Self-care is the act of looking after your own physical, mental, and emotional health. Creating a good self-care practice improves resilience against stress and other negative experiences. Self-care acts may be small or large, and there are many different types of self-care to consider depending on your unique and individual needs.

Ideas for Self Care


  • Sit outside near a park, pond, or place where people gather
  • Pet an animal
  • Acknowledge your emotions when you have them by taking a moment to name how you are feeling
  • Keep a journal
  • Prepare and eat a meal that is both healthy and delicious
  • Look through pictures or videos with friends
  • Make or listen to music
  • Write a mantra for yourself and repeat it to yourself daily
  • Engage with your spiritual beliefs
  • Be creative: knit, paint, draw, sew, or build
