CONFIDENTIALITY
For clients:
The UCC upholds a strict policy on confidentiality, in compliance with federal and Oklahoma state laws, to safeguard the security and privacy of your information. The UCC is prohibited by Oklahoma State Law from disclosing any information about any client (including whether they attend counseling) who is 18 years of age or older without their written permission. This means that your engagement in counseling is private and confidential, and would not be placed on any academic or OU employment record, or be disclosed to any family member or staff/faculty member without your consent. UCC clinicians are not mandated reporters of sexual misconduct or violence on campus, nor are they mandated to report substance use to Student Conduct.
You may request (by means of a signed release of information) that your counselor reveal information to other individuals or agencies of your choice if needed. If required for the purpose of coordination of care, your information may be shared with other providers (e.g., Goddard Health Services). We may release your information without your consent if you are considered to be at risk of harming yourself or others;
if a release of records is mandated by a court order; or if you disclose any suspected abuse currently occurring towards a minor, elderly, or incapacitated individual.

For parents/family members:
