Mindy Windholz

Mindy Windolz, M.S., LPC-S, NCC, CCTP

A native of the Sunflower State, Mindy Windholz is a proud alumnus of Fort Hays State University, graduating with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology and a M.S. in Counseling. Starting out in her career, she worked in a private practice setting in Topeka, KS and was able to work with every representation of the life span, which included a diverse representation of identity. She also worked as the personal counselor on staff at the YWCA in Topeka and provided counseling and court advocacy services for those living with interpersonal violence, stalking, and sexual assault. After living in St. Louis for six years, she moved to Oklahoma and found her dream job working in higher education at Oklahoma City University. She was the inaugural personal counselor for three years before becoming Director of Counseling Services, which she held for seven years.  Mindy is a state approved supervisor, a Nationally Board Certified Counselor, and holds certifications as a clinical trauma professional and tele-mental health provider.  She has also been trained in DBT and mindfulness. Her theoretical orientation is humanistic and she utilizes a holistic viewpoint when working with clients. She has experience working with clients who identify under the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and values the importance of being a lifelong learner of cultural humility. She believes in the autonomy and agency of the client and in the sacredness of the counseling space.
