I have been blessed with a long career doing things I love including sports medicine, teaching and flying.  I started as faculty in 2001 to lead our primary care sports medicine fellowship and develop a sports medicine practice in our department to give greater educational experience for residence and students.  I love the challenge of new opportunities.  I am proud that our fellowship is thriving, our practice is growing and we are providing excellent educational opportunities.  Now I am bringing my passion for seizing opportunities to the department of Family and Community Medicine by serving as chairman.  This is my opportunity to guide our department to be the driving force in family medicine in northeastern Oklahoma. This is also my opportunity to serve the great men and women in our department.  We are very proud of the fact that we are training the medical providers of the future.  We are proud that we strive for the highest quality of care for our patients and education for our learners.

Why OU-Tulsa?  It has to be the wonderful people in Tulsa!  Through the Air Force I traveled all over the world.  There is no place I would rather be than in Tulsa.   Tulsa has great balance with lots of opportunities of larger cities but much fewer problems.  Tulsa is a great place to raise a family.  I love spending time with my wife and four kids so having plenty of affordable activities and housing available is important.   We also love to travel so being centrally located makes it very easy to get anywhere we need to go.  The Tulsa airport is the perfect balance between large enough to have all the major airlines but small enough do not have all the congestion.

The Department of Family and Community Medicine here at OU-Tulsa has a rich history of training excellent physicians.  We are training the next generation of healthcare leaders.  We are improving the health and well-being of our community and our learners will continue this legacy for decades to come.
