The Greek Awards Program serves as an opportunity to recognize fraternity and sorority organizations for their varied achievements and contributions to the University of Oklahoma and the Norman community. Awards are presented each spring to the outstanding students, chapters, councils and advisors that make up our fraternity and sorority community.
To be eligible for Chapter of the Year, organizations must have received scores of operational excellence in all 6 pillars within the Standards of Excellence Program. The 2023 Chapters of the Year are:
Selection criteria for our Outstanding Greek Seniors includes a nomination from their individual chapter outlining outstanding achievement in service and contributions to the student’s chapter, the fraternity and sorority community, and the University of Oklahoma.
The Anona Adair Award is named for one of OU’s former Vice President for Student Affairs. Anona Adair was a gifted administrator and fierce advocate for our campus fraternities and sororities. This award was created in her honor many years ago to recognize the most outstanding student leader in our Greek community. The Anona Adair Award recipient must demonstrate unwavering commitment to the advancement of fraternity and sorority life at OU. Each year, this award is given to one of our Outstanding Greek Seniors who has displayed these qualities.
The 2023 Anona Adair Recipient is Julian Ruger, member of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc.
This award is presented to one fraternity and one sorority chapter president in recognition of their outstanding contributions to their chapters and the Greek community. These students have exemplified not only impactful leadership but have also truly lived their chapter values – all while supporting and guiding their individual organizations.

This award is presented to individuals who served their community through their governing council leadership positions. Serving on a council executive team can be a lot of work, but this award honors students who go above and beyond on their council executive teams – creating change and finding new ways to serve their communities. This award is nominated by fellow members of the council executive teams.
Fraternity and Sorority Members of the Year are nominated by their peers. These award winners go above and beyond in their chapters and on campus by living the organization's values, exhibiting strong leadership skills, and making an impact in the community.
Fraternity and Sorority New Members of the Year are nominated by their peers. These award winners go above and beyond in their chapters and on campus by living the organization's values, exhibiting strong leadership skills, and making an impact in the community, even as the newest members of their chapters.
Chapter Advisors play a crucial role in our fraternity and sorority community. These individuals are the constant in our evolving Greek culture – teaching each generation of students about our shared values and the importance of the fraternity and sorority experience. Our advisors of the year were nominated by the students they advise and coach.
Fraternity and Sorority House Directors serve our community in a unique role, providing support, guidance, and comfort to the nearly 2,000 students that live in the 27 chapter facilities near campus. This award is presented to both the fraternity and sorority House Directors who go above and beyond in supporting their students every day.
The Standards of Excellence initiative began in 2010 to renew focus on the integration of our core principles among all Greek chapters. This initiative was a response to a joint effort from staff, students, and the governing councils to build a process that would unify the goals and values of all fraternities and sororities. The result was 6 core areas of excellence that represent not only the goals of chapters, but also Fraternity and Sorority Programs and Services and our commitment of providing safe, meaningful, and transformative membership experiences. The Standards of Excellence program is built around 6 community pillars:
