OU Law students, faculty and staff serve the local community through the OU Legal Clinic. The clinic provides pro bono services for economically eligible clients primarily in Cleveland and McClain counties in both civil and criminal issues. Some exceptions can be made in the event a case proves to be of educational significance to students. The clinic can only take on a limited number of cases, and new cases are only added at specific times of the year.

The Oklahoma Indigent Defense System implements the Indigent Defense Act, 22 O.S. Section 1355 et seq., by providing trial, appellate and post-conviction criminal defense services to persons who have been judicially determined to be entitled to legal counsel at State expense. The mission of the System is to provide indigents with legal representation comparable to that obtainable by those who can afford counsel and to do so in the most cost effective manner possible.
