July 3: Washington, D.C. – The United States began offering
a reward of $25 million for information that either leads to the capture
of Saddam Hussein or confirms that the Iraqi leader is dead. Smaller
rewards of $15 million were offered for the same type of information for
Saddam’s sons, Uday and Qusay, and paid in full when the two were
killed July 22 (see below). Coalition Forces believe that Saddam Hussein
is still alive after the CIA positively identified his voice in a cassette
tape released to the Arab media earlier in the summer.
