Student Life in NROTC

As a member of the NROTC program here at OU,  you will be a part of a close-knit group and will have the opportunity to develop yourself as a student, leader, and as a member of the community.  As a scholarship Midshipman, you will have the opportunity to travel each summer to experience military life and career options in the Navy and Marine Corps.  During the school year, you will sharpen your mind and your body as you undergo officer development, consisting of physical training (PT), naval science courses, and a laboratory period twice per week.

NROTC life is not all work and studies…you will have fun too!  As a Midshipman, you will have the opportunity to participate in NROTC activities such as Color Guard, Drill Team, Endurance Team, Leadership Conferences, and a host of other activities.  Many of these activities will allow you to travel with your fellow Midshipmen to places like Dallas, TX and Boulder, CO, to name a few, in order to compete and enjoy the camaraderie of other NROTC Midshipmen from other colleges and universities.

Each year, you will have the opportunity to participate in special events such as the Dining-In, Joint Military Ball, Navy and Marine Corps Ball, OU-Texas Football Run, Toys for Tots, Commander’s Cup, intramural sports, and a host of other activities that will make your time as a Midshipman enjoyable and memorable.

Come aboard and join us!

"RUN TO DALLAS"

The annual "Run to Dallas" is OU NROTC's premier "school spirit" tradition that happens every Fall. During this event, our Midshipmen run the official game ball of the Red River Rivalry between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns 192 miles from Norman, OK to the Cotton Bowl In Dallas, TX. Once there, Midshipmen link up with the University of Texas NROTC unit, who run their own game ball to the Cotton Bowl from Austin, TX, and participate in a field day of intramural sports and food.

It is a tradition like no other. Join us to experience it for yourself!
