Located in the Stephenson Research and Technology Center on the University of Oklahoma campus, the Stable Isotope Measurement (SIM) Facility is a core facility administered by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships under the direction of Dr. Tim Filley and managed by Dr. Jani Sparks. Our facility seeks to further innovation in stable isotope-enabled research at the University of Oklahoma and abroad through cutting-edge light stable isotope analysis services. We also offer hands-on training to undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral associates, faculty, and visiting scholars.
We provide researchers with analysis and consultation services of light stable isotopes (δ13C, δ15N, δ34S, δ18O, and δ2H) and elemental abundance of carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and hydrogen using isotope ratio mass spectrometry and cavity ring-down spectroscopy on a wide variety of sample matrices (gases, liquids, solids).
Our facility is equipped with cold and dry sample storage and extensive sample processing facilities. We also offer sample processing and microbalance weighing services on a per sample basis. We will also have capability for accepting and analyzing samples governed by USDA APHIS quarantine protocols.
If you are interested in working with the Stable Isotope Measurement Facility, please reach out to simf@ou.edu. We are always happy to discuss future work, partnerships, and hosting visiting scholars. We are also open to organizing lab tours for researchers who are interested in learning more about our facility.
