The OU Norman Campus Faculty Handbook is a compilation of many of the University’s major policies regarding faculty, academic, and administrative matters, along with policies and information on the University’s facilities and general organization.
The Handbook is published as a convenient reference for informational purposes and should not be construed as the independent basis of a contract with the University. While every effort is made to present the information accurately, the actual text of any particular policy, procedure, or law referenced or included should be consulted as the authoritative, current source of information.
Please note the information contained in the Handbook may change from time to time by action of appropriate segments of the University. Although the Provost’s Office is responsible for keeping current the information in the Handbook, the University's new Policy and Procedure Manual is the source of record.
University of Oklahoma (OU) policies are applicable to faculty, staff, students, and visitors of OU and are designed to support university compliance with federal and state regulations, promote best practices, and provide expectations for conducting OU business. Visitors include third-party consultants, vendors, and contractors when they are doing business with OU; individuals who perform services for OU as volunteers; along with any guest on OU property.
OU policies are being migrated to the Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) that is hosted on PolicyTech, a new platform and management software OU will use to manage and store policies. The PPM does not currently contain an exhaustive list of OU policies; however, existing policies are being transitioned, and new policies will be added as they are approved. This new repository system is intended to provide convenient access to OU policies and will be the definitive source for the most current policies.
Any policy not listed within PolicyTech is not an official policy of the University of Oklahoma.
