All course changes are submitted and managed through Courseleaf, the University’s course inventory system.
To log in to CourseLeaf to review course information or to input or approve requests, please contact the Office of Academic Publications at curriculum@ou.edu.
When making course requests, departments must provide the following:
Approval of new or deleted courses or revisions to existing courses must be approved first at the department/college level and then reviewed by the Graduate Council for graduate courses or the Academic Programs Council for undergraduate and law courses. The appropriate council will make a recommendation to the Provost regarding course approval and/or any concerns that need to be addressed.
If you plan to develop a new degree or certificate program, you may need to establish a new course prefix before routing your new courses for approval. Complete the new course designator form. Once approved by the departmental chair/director and by the dean's office, submit it to provost@ou.edu.
Designating courses for General Education credit is a separate process, managed by the Office of the Provost and administered through the Provost’s Advisory Council on General Education Oversight (PAC-GEO).
The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) offers resources and consultations to help faculty create a new syllabus or improve a current one, or who want help with designing an online or blended course.
Please complete and route the appropriate form to request to cancel a scheduled course or to make a course schedule change. The requests must be approved by the Provost’s Office before notifying students.
The UNIV designation allows a course to be offered in exceptional circumstances when other approval channels cannot accommodate important student needs.
It is limited to a single one-time offering of a course and only for courses that faculty intend to develop into permanent offerings.
Approval by the department chair, college dean, Graduate College (where applicable), and Provost's Office is required.
