Servant leadership topic of Parker Leadership Conference

The JCPenney Leadership Program, along with the Price College Student Business Association, hosted the Fifth Annual Parker Leadership Conference at the National Weather Center on Feb. 21 in Norman.

Susan Agel, Positive Tomorrows president, was the keynote speaker. JCP Student Advisory Board Chairman Phil LeBaron gave the welcome, while Ken Parker, conference founder and sponsor, provided opening remarks.

More than 100 students learned the importance of servant leadership by working on a case study titled “Leadership and Service: Nonprofit Board Challenges.” Employees from ConocoPhillips, BP and Devon Energy served as case facilitators.

Positive Tomorrows is a private, tuition-free elementary school meeting the educational and social service needs of homeless children and their families.
