Certificates

You have the option to advance your specific career goals by focusing your elective courses towards a certificate.

The Arts Management and Entrepreneurship certificate is offered in collaboration with the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts, providing a comprehensive, flexible structure of courses designed to develop the skills needed for careers in leadership positions at large and small arts organizations and multidisciplinary entrepreneurial startups. The practicum courses provide deeply immersive, hands-on experience in a variety of distinguished internships (regional and international) and an Arts Incubation Lab (a boot camp-style lab providing skills in consulting in a fast-paced program bringing creative concepts to market).

Well-designed digital technology can add tremendous value and boost performance, especially when aligned with business strategies and organizational needs. By pursuing a certificate in Digital Technologies, which is offered through our division of MIS, you position yourself as the expert who can bridge the two disciplines, information technologies and business management.

New ventures require a scaffold of talent and expertise on which to grow, whether they begin within an existing organization or independently. Learn to assess the feasibility of a new venture, chart a commercialization path for an innovation, analyze other people’s plans, and plan for successful capitalization and launch. Take this specialization into your own venture or put it into practice with a service or capital provider.

Rigorous analysis, hands-on practice, and intense discussions in this certificate give you the understanding and experience to manage portfolios, advise clients, analyze investments, or contribute to a corporate finance practice in industry or banking. Learn how to value financial securities, price and manage assets, manage risk, model finances, and present analysis.

The MBA Healthcare Administration certificate is a collaboration between the Price College of Business and OU’s College of Public Health. Courses will be taught by Masters of Healthcare (MHA) faculty and include topics like theories and principles of healthcare administration, present and historical practices, healthcare operations, financing and governance of healthcare, effects of technology on healthcare, healthcare legislation, and challenges facing healthcare today.

The Media Management certificate is offered in collaboration with the Gaylord College Journalism & Mass Communication and is designed to equip you with industry specific insight into media entrepreneurship and management of media-focused organizations. The curriculum will give you the basics of media management and challenge you to find new ventures, outlets, communication strategies, and more to be at the forefront of the digital age of media.

Experiential Learning Opportunities

The Professional MBA program is designed to offer many opportunities for experiential learning that enable and encourage students and executives to work side-by-side in solving real-world problems.

All students have the option to embark on a 1 week international experience to develop essential business skills required for success in a global economy. The program location varies each year. This course will immerse you in a new culture, offer interactions with business and governmental leaders, and expose you to the challenges and rewards of doing business internationally.

This innovative course examines major leadership frameworks through readings, discussions, interactions with successful industry professionals, and a range of rigorous, scientifically-valid and time-tested leadership self-assessments.

Admissions Requirements

We value a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives in our classroom, so we encourage applicants from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds to apply.

Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis. It is to your advantage to apply as early as you are ready. The admissions committee cannot predict the quality of future applications and is inclined to admit well-qualified applicants early in the process.

The non-refundable application fee covers the cost of processing the application. The application fee is $50 for domestic applicants and $100 for international applicants. We do not offer application fee waivers.

While you do not need to submit all of your application requirements at once, your application will not be considered for admission until we have received all required parts of your application.

Upload an unofficial copy of your transcript from your undergraduate degree-granting institution and other graduate degrees (as applicable), to the online application and request for an official transcript to be sent to OU.

Official Paper Transcripts can be sent to:
University of Oklahoma
Office of Graduate Admissions
731 Elm Avenue, Room 318

Official Electronic Transcripts can be sent to:

The OU Professional MBA Program will consider applicants who wish to apply for admission to the program without a GMAT/GRE score.

If you choose to take an entrance exam or have already taken the GMAT or GRE, please upload an official score report with your admissions application. Test scores are valid for five years and we only consider your highest GMAT or GRE scores. Which test you choose to take is entirely up to you, and we do not give preferential treatment to those who select one test over the other.

If you wish to apply for an entrance exam waiver, you may do so at any time. All entrance exam waivers applicants will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and the granting of waivers cannot be guaranteed. A denial of this request does not preclude you from taking the GMAT/GRE and continuing to apply for admission to the Professional MBA Program.

We look at two main criteria as a basis for the waiver request:

  1. A minimum GPA of 3.30 or higher from most recent Bachelor's or Master's degree completed
  2. Has demonstrated quantitative aptitude through professional or academic experience (such as work projects, academic coursework, STEM degrees, or other)

   Exam Waiver Application

* Applicants to the Full-time MBA or other graduate programs in Price College are not eligible for this waiver request.

Candidates not approved for an Entrance Exam Wavier may be offered the option to take MBA Math, an online learning module. If asked to complete MBA Math, you will be given specific instructions on the modules to complete along with a coupon code to cover the cost.

  • Provide a copy of an up-to-date professional résumé. Include information about full-time positions, military assignments, and significant part-time or summer work experiences. Résumés should also list education history with dates of attendance and graduation.
  • Admission interviews are by invitation only and are conducted by Zoom. The admissions committee will contact you via email to schedule the interview at a mutually convenient time.

Pursuing an MBA is a significant step in one's professional journey. We want to understand your motivations for taking this step and how our program fits into your broader aspirations.

What are your short-time and long-term career goals, and why is now the right time for you to pursue and MBA? How will earning an MBA from the Price College of Business help you achieve these goals?

In your response, we encourage you to reflect on the following:

  • The key experiences that have shaped your professional path thus far
  • Specific skills or knowledge you hope to gain from an MBA program
  • Why you believe the Price College of Business is the right place for your MBA experience
  • How you envision leveraging the MBA to make an impact in your chosen field

We are looking for thoughtful, authentic responses that help us get to know you better as an applicant as a a potential future member of the OU MBA community. 300 word maximum response.

The Professional MBA program is intended for working professionals who have at least two years of work experience prior to starting the program

Requests for transfer credit are reviewed upon acceptance to the OU MBA program. Courses must be from an AACSB-accredited institution with an earned grade of B or higher, taken within the last five years, and approved by the MBA department.

There are no prerequisites for the PMBA program. The curriculum provides introductory business courses at the graduate level.

Letters of Recommendation are optional.  If you choose to submit recommendation letters, you may upload them in the “Additional Documents” section of the online application or email them to oumba@ou.edu.

Reapplying the following year, after being denied, does not hamper your chances of being admitted into the program. We will evaluate your application as brand new and will not consider the previous denial. If you want to improve your application and are unsure of how to better your chances, feel free to reach out to us. We would be happy to discuss how you can improve your application.
